The highlight of the year was definetely the time I traveled to China with Timon to go visit his side of the family. It was one of the happiest moments of the entire year. I got to meet his other grandparents, aunts and uncles, and cousins who are all so nice to me. We spent a week with them, and we had so much fun together that we didn’t want to leave.
During the time we spent in Asia, we went to Beijing, Suzhou, known as the “Venise of China”, Shanghai and other regions of the country. We certainly want to go back, and on our next vacation to Asia, we’d like to travel to South Korea and Japan!
Time really flies! I can’t believe it’s been already more than a year that Timon and I are married. For our first year anniversary, we decided to go to Boston. Just like that; for no particular reason other than spending time together, eating lobsters and taking selfies.
One of my girlfriends got pregnant in 2014, and she’s the first among our group! You know what’s the best way to end the year? For my friend to deliver her baby safely, and she did on New Year’s Eve! I’m beyond excited to meet her baby girl! I don’t know what it is, but everytime I look at her baby’s photos, I get emotional. We’ve grown up together, and it’s funny how more than 10 years ago at school, we joked around saying that I’d be the first to get married and she’d be the first to have a baby (well, religiously, she got married before me, but her wedding party happened after mine). And it happened the way we talked about it.
I do have more memorable moments of 2014. However, these 3 events have made me realized that we don’t have to be biologically related to someone to call him/her our family, when we’re in love everyday is a celebration, and last but not least, we have the power to create our own happiness. I’m certain that my friend’s main source of happiness is now found in her daughter. Our happiness is in our hands, but true joy can only come from God.
I have the feeling that 2015 will be a year full of surprises. I’m determined to make it one of the best by focusing on my one and only resolution: creating balance in my life.
I wish you all a Happy New Year! I pray that God give you the strength and courage to attain your dreams, but if you’re far from it, don’t despair, God is in control, and He can turn any situations into a blessing.
