Reminisce about 2013: Wedding & Honeymoon

Anna and Tim's Montreal Wedding

As the New Year gets closer, I can’t help but reminisce about 2013.

It’s the year that I got married to the love of my life. I didn’t expect Timon to ask me to marry him. I was convinced he would wait for another 2 or 3 years. But Timon never ceases to surprise me.

We got engaged on November 3rd, 2012.

And got married in Montreal on August 3rd, 2013.

The day after our wedding, we flew to Greece for our honeymoon.

We chose this destination because we heard about the breathtaking beaches in Crete and the beautiful sunset in Santorini. We were also interested in visiting the ruins in Athens. The Acropolis was mesmerizing!

At the entrance of the Acropolis in Athens:

The Parthenon:

The Temple of Athena:

The beautiful beaches in Crete, Chania, starting with:

Elafonissi, Crete

Gramvousa Island, Crete

Balos Beach, Crete

We planned the whole trip by ourselves, doing the research and the booking on the Internet. I was proud of myself for planning the wedding and the honeymoon in 10 months and most importantly for not exceeding the budget that we had set for ourselves at the beginning.

The place that inspired me the most was definitely Oia in Santorini! I felt like I was living in paradise! Everything was white! The beautiful white houses with the blue rooftops were legendary! I’m not even sure if that’s the right word. Everything was just beautiful and I couldn’t stop smiling! I was so happy to be there! Just thinking about it makes me smile and it deserves a blog post. 🙂

A few photos of Oia in Santorini:

Beautiful view

The sunset…so magical.

When we came back from Greece, the challenge began: styling our home! I had an idea of how I wanted our first place together to be but Timon didn’t share the same vision as me at the beginning.

This is how the living room looks like as of today. We recently added the fluffy rug and we kept the Christmas lights because they make the place look more cozy and welcoming which is part of the “vision”. You can read about it in here.

20131229-211505.jpgDuring the busiest month of the year, December, a very good friend of mine finally decided to do a wedding celebration after being with her husband for over 3 years! It was a Maroccan wedding and my friend looked like a real princess on her wedding day! She wore 4 different dresses and she was breathtaking! God, you’re amazing for creating such a beautiful being!

December is definitely a month of birth and rebirth! I was born on December and I celebrated it with my closest friends. It was also the month that Winnie, a friend of mine, got baptized!

2013 was filled with joy, laughter, tears but definitely not regrets. I’m looking forward to 2014 with big dreams, hope and love. I’m determined to become a better version of myself starting with a loving heart.

What are your goals for 2014? What do you hope to accomplish?
